Well today after much thought and loads of deliberation on breed, I got my little Patterdale terrier puppy. I’d been recommended to the breeder by a colleague who had had 2 pups from him. He had been let down by a buyer so he still had four left. Patterdales are physically similar to Jack Russells, although they don’t have the stumpy legs. They do have legs, just not the stumpy ones of Jack Russells. I think they’re prettier too lol
Anyway I stayed at the breeders for a couple of hours playing with the puppies and the parents until it was nap time. The pups had all been boisterous as 10 week old pups are, but when nap time came they all collapsed in a heap around Mum and were very quickly off to the land of Nod. Apart from the little one. He decided after 2 minutes that he wasn’t ready for sleep yet, so he jumped up and attacked me again. He was the smallest of them all but had bundles of fun in him and he wasn’t ready to go to sleep just cos Mum told him to.
So that was it. He was mine. He was boisterous and fun and cute as anything but, he had just the right amount of cheeky edge to him. He seemed to be happy playing with me and letting me mess around with him, so I paid the man and carried the pup off to the van. He of course marked his territory within 30 seconds haha. Actually I don’t think he did, I think he was so nervous he just sat in the middle of the floor and let it all come out. Luckily the floor of the van is rubber lino so no harm there.
I messed around with him for maybe half an hour for him to get used to the van, then I plonked him on the passenger seat and off we went. Here’s a photo of him. (He brought the toy from home awww!)
I haven’t given any thought to what I should call him so he’s puppy for now
